From passion to profession.
Prevention & Performance began in 2016 from the dream of beginning an
at-home personal training service. In 2015, owner and head trainer Robert Ackley began this career after graduating from Hofstra University earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science.
After two years of transferring weights, mats, tables and bands into client homes and backyards, it was time Prevention & Performance went from an in-home personal training service to a full-time body rehabilitation and group exercise company.
Today, Prevention & Performance is now a fitness center where clients can partake in group fitness classes, one-on-one personal training sessions, and learn body rehabilitation skills and techniques to prevent aches and pains. No matter the experience level, Prevention & Performance’s mission is to provide first-hand knowledge of exercise, form, nutrition, and the techniques to perform well in order to receive positive change.
Coach Rob obtains his Functional Medicine Techniques (FMT) IASTM Certification where he is able to provide valuable and credible body rehabilitation remedies. He has participated in a number of body building competitions where he has placed first in the 2017 Long Island Championship. Coach Rob has also trained with Dana Cavalea, head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the New York Yankees, for over 10 years.
